MFC Foundation Bags £2000 In Tesco Initiative

MFC Foundation are delighted to announce that we came in second place in Tesco Bags of Help initiative, receiving a fantastic £2000 towards our Premier League Kicks programme.

MFCF were one of a number of charities to be shortlisted in the Teesside area for the months of May and June, as Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local community projects.

Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.

Premier League Kicks uses the power of football and appeal of professional football clubs brands from the Premier League and Football League to engage young people who may otherwise be difficult to reach in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the country.

Head of MFC Foundation, Helena Bowman said: “We’d like to thank Tesco for the opportunity to raise some vital funds for our Foundation.

“At MFC Foundation we strive to help raise the aspirations and change the lives of many disadvantaged people throughout the Tees Valley area.

“The funds will be put towards our fantastic Premier League Kicks programme; giving young people a safe and controlled area to play sports and enjoy their free time.”
