MFC Foundation NCS Students In Surprise Meeting With Great Granddaughter Of Boro Legend

A group of NCS students came in for a pleasant surprise when they rounded-off a four-week course with a touching charitable act.

They may be generations apart, but the youngsters, like everyone on Teesside, knew about Wilf Mannion.

Little did they know they were in the presence of the great granddaughter of Wilf Mannion when they handed over donations to the Home-Start charity in Brambles Farm.

Wrapped hampers containing anything from toys to life essentials were put together by the students and handed over to the charity on Marshall Avenue.

On receiving the donations, Mannion’s great granddaughter Michelle Hardy, Senior Family Support Coordinator, said: “I’m almost in tears here. These are young people who are making families smile. Wow, what a gift! It’s so great to see because childhood can’t wait.”

Michelle, third left in the picture above, is pictured alongside Chair Isobel Stefaniuk, Family Support Coordinator Molly Tuffery, MFC Foundation coaches Tom Readman and Ryan Brown, together with the course students.
