MFC Foundation are offering a unique opportunity for Middlesbrough FC fans to walk alongside some of their heroes on a charity hike from the club’s Rockliffe Training Complex to the Riverside Stadium.
The 28-mile scenic walk from Hurworth, Darlington, all the way to home of the Boro will take place on Sunday May 20th, in association with The Boro Walkers.
Former Middlesbrough FC stars such as Steve Vickers, Mark Proctor, Gary Pallister, John Hendrie, Neil Maddison and Dave Hodgson will all be involved in what is bound to be a fantastic day of both fundraising and personal achievement.
Open to all outdoor enthusiasts, with a sign up fee of just £35 per person, walkers are encouraged to commit to raising £100 each through sponsorship’s.
All of the proceeds from the walk will go to MFC Foundation, with the money invested into our many programmes which raise aspirations and change the lives of thousands of disadvantaged children and adults across Teesside.
“I’ve always been a great supporter of MFC Foundation and the work they do in the local community, and I was more than happy to take part in a walk from the training ground to the stadium,” said Steve Vickers.
“It’s going to be quite a feat to complete it, so I’ve already been getting some training in ahead of the big day.
“I know the guys are looking forward to it, so hopefully we get a lot of fans or avid walkers on board, and we raise a lot of money on the day!”
MFC Foundation’s Events & Fundraising Officer, Diane O’Connell added: “This is the first time we have hosted an event like this, so we’re very excited that so many of the ex-players have bought into it and graciously offered their time to take part.
“I’d also like to thank The Boro Walkers for all of their help to put this event together. They’ve worked hard putting together a great route which is both challenging, picturesque and safe for participants, so a big extended thanks to them.”
